Jean-Luc Godard // "Every time that a young filmmaker asks me how to make a film I always tell them something that I have not yet managed to do myself…it's: 'Do you know how to tell your day?' Can you tell it as a memory or can you only tell it in a historical way, like the police would? For example: 'I got up this morning, I put on my underpants or my bra, then I had a coffee, then I took the tram, then I went to the bank, then I saw Jacob, then I came back, then I did this and that...' If this is how he tells his day, he must know that this is not a deep level. The day and the memory must engage you… I would like these stories to be made…so that we could see them rather than hear things about them…to have a real discussion…of interesting people. I have never managed to do this, we are all amateurs in that way."
